Visibly moved by media reports of a religious place encroaching upon Government College For Girls Ludhiana playground to permanently erect a parking lot, the alumni of SCD Government College Ludhiana have supported the students and teachers of the college. The alumni view this as a crime on temples of learning. They are sad that their young daughters have been made to protest in scorching heat by the thoughtlessness of religious and political leaders, while district administration is mute on the issue. Alumni of boys college denounce torture of Govt College Girls principal on this issue by politico-religious combine said Brij Bhushan Goyal, Org Sec Of Alumni Association. He also said that girls college groomed the likes of students Kamla Chowdhary who was the first woman PCS officer from joint Punjab in early 1960s. College gave many good teachers to many colleges and schools in the state also . Instead of setting up any institute for competition preparation and sports facilities, the government is mute witness to encroachment , " said Goyal.

Alumnus Prof PK Sharma : We must support college and students as they deem fit for the genuine cause to prevent encroachment of college land and resist this government's excess if any in connivance with wrong doers. College ground of girls’ college must not be frittered away this way. The administration should follow the law of land sternly taking action against the violators of law enabling the college authorities to safeguard its ground and premises.
Narinder Singh Masson: Land for college is for educational purposes only. There's no need to give it to any organization for creating a parking lot or whatever in future. This is rightfully in possession of a government college and no government authority should allow its misuse in the name of religion or some need which can be fulfilled by using the Guru Nanak stadium parking on special days by charging relevant fees and responsibilities of property maintenance. Encroachments must also be removed from the boundary wall of college by florists and others.
Alumnus K B Singh : College property of girls college is for education purpose and any use for welfare of student community is welcome. Use of college infra for any other purpose is unwarranted. Education should be kept above politics - should be clear to all concerned.
Alumnus Dalbir Singh Mauli opined that we must stand up to support college authorities and students.
There are many alumni of SCD Govt College, Ludhiana whose daughters and sisters have either studied earlier here or are studying now. They have praised girl students Durga Shakti rising today against encroachment on Government College for Girls’ sports ground thus stopping construction by encroachers.
